Sweet Little Carpet Beetle

We have recently experienced a carpet beetle problem upstairs. Last week we noticed dozens of tiny dead black bugs on our carpet. After a call to Terminix we learned that they are carpet beetles and could possibly be "infested" in our insulation in the attic. We are in the process of fixing this problem, however, the reason why I am writing this post is not to inform you of the carpet beetle situation, but rather a funny incident that occurred this morning. Brinley and I were upstairs near the carpet beetles (the ones that came out and died after last nights vacuuming) and Brinley, upon remembering they were around said " Oh boy mom, I better grab my microscope to check these little bugs out." Soon she was carefully and quietly examining the tiny beetle's at close range. Here is the funny part...all of sudden she begins talking with a high pitched, yet sweet and motherly tone saying " Oh you sweet tiny little carpet beetle, did you loose your Mommy? You are such a cute little baby! Mom, look at all of these sweet little carpet beetle babies. Where do you think their Mommy and Daddy are?" I tried not to laugh and engage in conversation with her about the beetles but soon she lost interest in talking to me and began with her motherly beetle talk again. " Aren't you guys just the funnest little bugs. Yes you are! You are just such sweet little guys. Now don't you worry. I am going to find your Mom and Dad soon. You just stay right there you sweet little babies." It's difficult to grasp how funny and tender this moment was by reading it and not hearing her voice. Just take my word, it was very cute!

Sprinkler Season.

The beginning of backyard sprinkler season has officially begun at the Young home! This afternoon Brinley and Kirsten had a delightful time running through the sprinklers, jumping on the wet tramp, swinging and sliding. Avery is quite entertained to just sit in her swing and watch the two girls running around. After sprinkler fun we enjoyed a BBQ dinner with Leslie, Adam and the four girls!

Yesterday Morning.

In addition to becoming a new physician this year Cody has taken on many other title's that accompany owning a home, these include: plumber, pest control, gardner (big time) and interior decorating consultant. Yesterday morning before work he installed this edge work to our front door path. What a guy! Recently he has spent many hours before and after work improving our yard.

My Little Pony

Cody became super dad while I was off at my training! On Saturday he took both girls downtown to a "My Little Pony" show. Brinley loved it, however Cody kept very busy with little Avery who refused to sit still for even one moment...I can't wait for the 4.5 hour plane ride coming up in July!
Brinley gave rave reviews of the colorful pony costumes and the fun songs. When I asked Cody how it was he said " I am just glad we got the tickets for free."

Body Pump!

This evening I completed the most intense and challenging three full day certification of my life...Les Mills BODY PUMP! We began with 10 certifying participants ended up with 7. Two of the individuals who dropped out were personal trainers. One left in tears and the other who dropped out was a GUY! This particular class was created by an Olympic Athlete in New Zealand back in the 80's and is now being taught in over 70 countries with an estimated 4 million weekly participants! The 60 minute Body Pump class offers it's participants a challenging weight lifting (with the bar) experience like no other. One of our "fun" activities yesterday consisted of lifting, benching, squatting, pressing, etc... fully loaded bars for 90 minutes straight. We were assigned to teach different tracks many times throughout the training. While teaching our master instructor would video tape us and take notes. Then we would all watch the tape as our every move, expression and verbal cue was scrutinized and feedback on how to change was given. For three full days we were expected to use the max. amount of weight we possibly could because "Pump instructors are athletes and we need to look the part." At times I wanted to throw that bar down and head for the hills...but I stuck with it and HOORAY I am still alive...but very sore and tired. Unlike other certifications, this week we were graded. Some made it through to the next certification requirement, others did not. The next step is to submit a 100% flawless 60 min. DVD of me teaching Body Pump at my club. The "assessors" have a detailed checklist of requirements that we are graded on for each position, verbal que, choreography, timing, connection to members, amount of weight used, etc... Our master trainer said to expect having to film us teaching the class about 4 times to get an assessment video that is good enough to pass the Les Mills expectations. SO, it's only just begun. I hope to see some of you someday in one of my Body Pump classes!

New Addition

Here are two of the four new lettering additions we have recently added to our walls and we love them! We have another quote over our front door that reads "The most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home." And we also added a "Welcome" sign to the front door. These great vinyl lettering quotes came from a Utah company called Uppercase Living.
