Fire Station!

Yesterday we visited the oldest Fire Station in Columbus with the Doctor's Hospital playgroup. Katy and I learned about how to extinguish household fires and the girls enjoyed playing in pretend fire engines and sliding down a fireman pole.
Avery insisted on doing everything the other kids were doing on her own! However, instead of steering the wheel of the fire engine she preferred to climb onto it and attempt swinging back and forth on it.

Simply Scrappin' Scraps?

Do you ever wonder what to do with all of those leftover Simply Scrappin' bits and pieces? Make a card! After I scrapbook a layout I always make a few cards with the leftover paper and accessories. It takes all of a few minutes and it's a great way to build up your card collection! Another idea is to let your little ones create a "special scrapbook layout" with the small items you are not going to use, Brinley loves to do this.

Family Fun Fest!

A few days ago we went the a Family Fun Festival downtown. Brinley made a sound shaker which she is proudly displaying in this picture with Curious George. Avery mostly choose to be a bit agitated by the fact that she could not do what all the big kids were doing. We only stayed for a short time but it was fun!

September Clubs!

This month we created a quick and easy Halloween treat box using Creepy Crawly Designer Paper and the Batty For You stamp set.
To make this box cut cardstock into a 8 1/4" square, scored at 2 3/4" all the way around,
score diagonally on all 4 outside corners for the cute Chinese take-out box look on the sides. Reinforce folds using the bone folder and pin sides into place using a brad.
We also created these darling sucker covers, oh so easy!

Thanks to all those who participated in the On Board challenge! Everyone created such unique and adorable projects...I was totally impressed!

First Trip to the Dentist!

Brinley's new dentist has a beautiful clinic decorated in bright and cheery colors with kid friendly toys and "very special prize drawers." Above Ginger, the assistant, teaches Brinley about the different tools she is going to use to look in her mouth and gives her a little mouth mirror for her to see her teeth at home.

Brinley got to choose a new tooth brush and FOUR special prizes out of the
"prize drawers."
We absolutely LOVE Dr. JoJo, our new pediatric dentist!

Grandma's Visit!

This morning I walked out of my room to discover Brinley staring blankly into our empty guest bedroom which had become her and Grandma's "dark room." We held hands and walked downstairs together and as I sat her on my lap she burst into tears as the idea that Grandma was really gone sank in.

The night before my Mom arrived to our home last week she spent many hours in a

St. Louis ER due to a large black spot which had appeared in her vision. She arrived exhausted and without a correct diagnosis. The following few days she spent in and out of doctors offices and ended up undergoing a laser procedure for a retinal tear and detachment of some long medical sounding word which I fail to recall.

Brinley seized the opportunity to spend lots of time singing, talking, playing games and reading to Grandma in the "dark room." Once I came into the guest bedroom and discovered the two of them doing a little up in the air leg dance to the ring tone of grandma's cell phone. One thing is for sure, Brinley loves Grandma and already misses her.

We hope you continue to recover Grandma! We love you!

Mission Completion!

This week my boss Ellen and I completed our final phase of the Les Mills BodyPump certification course. Donna, the regional Body Pump supervisor for Gold's Gym(PS-often times I link websites to my blog. If you scroll over a large word/words and they light up you can click on them to link you to the site. Click on "Gold's Gym" to see where I teach), made the trek to our gym to video tape each of us separately teaching a class straight though. Ellen and I have been team teaching for several weeks now to prepare for the video which has to basically be flawless in order for us to pass. This week we will submit the DVDs to the Les Mills corporate office. They will then be distributed to the individuals who scrutinize each minute of the recorded class, fill out evaluation sheets and determine if we pass! Even though I have been teaching for a number of years now I am always excited to improve and learn new material!
I gave these water bottles to everyone who participated in my video. The official Body Pump colors are red & black, hence the color choice.
Thank you SO much to those of you who spent your Friday night at the gym and participated in my video. You were all fantastic and I couldn't have done it without you!

E.mer.gen.cy (i.mur'jen.se') n. A sudden and unexpected turn of events calling for immediate action.

We are so thankful that people like Cody and Rick are willing to sacrifice and devote so many years of their lives to learning about how to help and heal others, especially when we need immediate help and healing at home!
Rick- Thank you so very much for caring for my mom as you would your own. Thank you for getting up early and staying up late to make sure that her eye was taken care of and that she received the medical attention needed!
