Urban Iron Release #6

Saturday 10:10 am = I will launch Urban Iron release #6
(similar to Body Pump)
at my club.

3,600 Seconds ,60 Minutes, 11 Tracks =
The amount of precise choreography I've memorized this week to teach the new release.
6 weeks = the amount of time I will teach this release before I begin to blend
in tracks from previous releases.
In 3 months = time to memorize release #7.
Why = Because I love to motivate a room packed with members
and help them achieve their fitness goals.
Last week = I knew 27 of the 45 class members by name,
this week my goal is to remember 32!
I LOVE my class members,
I LOVE teaching at Urban Active,
I LOVE teaching Urban Iron!
AND to see the training I attended last week go HERE, can't wait to teach it.
When Monday rolls around it's on to teaching Triple Fit & Urban Core.

An Average Avery Day

7am = "Where is Aspen Mommy."
7:30am = She insists on eating breakfast right next to her little sister.
8am = Brinley and Mommy attempt to find Avery who tends to disappear when it's time to get dressed and brush teeth. Panic sets in after we search the entire house calling her by name and she is no where to be found.
In a second attempt we discover her in the corner of the playroom.
Perhaps Daddy and I did too good of a job at teaching her not to give herself away when
playing hide and go seek.

9am-12pm = Avery pokes, bounces, vigorously pats, sings to,
kisses and attempts to jump over her little sister.
She is fond of joining Aspen on the boppy while I am nursing just to "check-up" on her and make sure that she is nursing properly, this action typically results in the opposite.

(These are Aspens new shoes)

1pm- Avery sings Enie-Minie-Minney-Moo 2345235346 times
before choosing her pre-nap book to read.

This of course does not happen until she has affectionately smothered Aspen with kisses, sort of making up for the 2 hour break she will have to take from her sister while sleeping... (Aspens favorite part of the day).

3-4pm = Big sisters oversee Aspens floor time by getting approximately 3 inches from her face and squealing at her in attempts to make her smile.

Brinley tires of this game quickly, Avery chooses to play it until Aspen produces
loud whaling screams.

5pm = Pre-dinner activities include making foam inner tubes for her rubber lizards
"so that they will not drowned and die" as they swim in their imaginary swimming pool.

Meanwhile Aspen enjoys the 5 minutes of solace.

7pm = More hugs, more kisses, more squealing at Aspen before bedtime.

Do any other mothers dream of creating some type of device that suspends from the
middle of the ceiling away from any objects that could assist their other children
from gaining access to the baby???

Aspen's Club Foot Brace

Last Thursday life was good. Aspen had slept through the night twice
and was up only once a night to nurse for weeks prior to those two blessed nights.

That morning we went off on our way to see Mrs. Cheri for the
removal of Aspen's 7Th and final cast.
Aspen enjoyed her weekly ritual with Cheri.
Tounge depressor inserted into the side of her cast,
cast sawed off,
soapy & warm leg & foot bath,
some sweet talk and smiles and then...
ahh ohh, Dr. Von Stein did not come into the room,
a new cast is was not being wrapped on,
the ritual was not going right.

We hopped into the car and headed to the orthopedic clinic instead to begin a new ritual
with Nick at Hanger Orthotics and...
The Dobbs Brace.

(4 of the 7 casts Aspen wore)
Thanks to our friend and orthopedic surgeon Patrick Bull for mentioning to us that there were brace options out there for club feet or else Aspen would have ended up in the
Markell shoes pictured on the left.

After some research we decided to go with the John Mitchell brace pictured in the middle...but alas, after more research and many, many phone calls to various professionals we ended up with the Dobbs Dynamic Bar coupled with
custom AFO's (ankle foot orthotics).

Aspen is not fond of her brace.
She likes to tell us this by screaming loudly for long periods of time throughout the day.
The most enjoyable part of the new brace would have to be getting up several times throughout the night to nurse and comfort our little miss.

We've made a few visits back to see our new found friend and orthotics expert Nick because Aspen has been successful at wiggling her way out of the AFO's multiple times a day.

We are still in the process of altering the shoes, but all in all we hope to be well on our way to adjusting to Aspen's new addition.

January Club Projects

Seriously folks, I am getting way behind on my posting... I took the pictures inside this month so I apologize for the washed out colors due to the flash.

Here are the pictures from TUESDAYS club night.

Valentine's was the theme and we made this card...

this candy cover and the 12 X 12 page below. For the technique table I

made this little "box in a bag" ditty which is super easy.

That's it, no time for further explanation because on Thursday

I managed to make this smiling baby cry for days on end...

learn more about how I managed this in my next belated post.

Newport Aquarium

During the beginning of our Christmas Holiday we went to the
Newport Aquarium in Cincinnati. Since the two hour long car trip seems like an eternity for the girls, upon planning our little outing
we decided to spend the night at a hotel with a pool.

Reasons why an overnight is not so simple right now:
1- Aspen was up crying and nursing all night.
2- Avery refuses to sleep in the pack-and-play and ends up in Mom's bed.
3- Avery falls off the tall bed in the middle of the night while Mommy is on the
other side of the room nursing Aspen.
4- Brinley and Avery take 2 hours longer then we anticipate to fall asleep and wake up exhausted the next morning which leads to an abundance of
tears and an early departure time.
Reasons why a not-so-simple overnight is worth it right now:
1- Our girls got to look forward to the "big trip" with loads of excitement.
2- Swimming at the hotel was so fun (even though Avery insisted on continually diving into the pool without any flotation device and gave us a few minor hear attacks).
3- Creating fun family memories is worth the effort.
4- Hmmm, let me get back to you on that one...the sleepless night is still at the
forefront of my mind.

Their favorite part of the Aquarium was feeding the birds nectar
and petting real sharks.
My favorite part of the aquarium was having Daddy there with us,
this makes all experiences much better!

We waited in line to catch the last "Scuba Santa" show of the day and had envisioned this experience being a huge hit...but after about 3 minutes of seeing Santa scuba dive our girls were ready to move on and the 15 minute show was a bit too long.

More posts to come after this week of starting back teaching at the gym, attending a BeamFit training, stamp club tonight and getting Aspen into her new
AFO's (ankle foot orthotics) and bar!
