10 days ago Cody departed for a week long oral board review course at
Duke University.
During the one week course
he and his colleagues, along with 500 other radiology residents,
sat through a staggering 91 lectures.
Above are the "outlines" of the material covered at the review.
Each day from early morning until late evening they pounded away at
case after case after case after case.
Side note: I had to secretly take these pictures because Cody prefers zero attention
be given to the truly massive work load that he has been enduring for...oh only NINE YEARS NOW!
Come May 29th we will ALL sing praises because Cody will have
completed his oral boards and at last be done, for a time, with the never ending studying,
daily board review sessions and living in a fog of utter exhaustion on top of his
already strenuous schedule.
Our first visitor during Daddy's absence was Bonesie!
Ok, her real name is Bonnie,
but she has ALWAYS been Bonesie or Bones to our family.
Bones and my Mom were friends from before my birth,
so I can't remember a time where she wasn't in my life.
During my high school years Bones became our travel companion
and we took a number of delightful trips together.
She always made the journey even more enjoyable.
It was so fun and comforting to have her with us for the day!
First we had some "kid-free" time, thank you Leslie, to enjoy a lunch out and talk talk talk,
we could have spent the rest of the day gabbing,
but alas it was Irish dance day so our adult time ran out and we were off to Dublin for dance class.
The girls clung onto Bones for the rest of the evening as they taught her Irish dance jigs,
talked together and enjoyed story time, singing time and good night kisses with her.
We are lucky ducks because Bones' brother moved here last year and so we
excitedly anticipate her continuing travel plans to our area!
The following day Nikki arrived from California!
She spent her last high school spring break
at our place, which made us all just thrilled.
This aspiring editor is will be attending
Chapman University in Orange, California next year.
The morning after her late night arrival she was a trooper awaking at 4am her time so
as not to disappoint the girls who were so excited to see her first thing!
During her stay Nikki spent one on one time with each of the girls which
made them feel so special.
We also enjoyed one on one time together when the kiddos were counting sheep.
Among other outings we spent one morning at the Zoo, one morning at the park,
ate lunch out at one of the most awesome places around (if you come here I will take you out to eat there too) and attended a local circus at the fairgrounds.
The circus performance was more of a cultural experience than anything else;
quite hilarious memories were made that afternoon.
A Nikki visit means game time!
Several years back Nikki taught Brinley to play "Guess Who."
Now when Nikki is around the girls are pulling game after game out to play with her.
Nikki also blessed my life by caring for the children during a couple
of occasions when I needed to be away.
It felt great to have my children usher me out the door with happy giggles.
One of those occasions was
dinner out with visitor #3 of the week
Kelly Bull, who evacuated with her two kids from her home in Japan after the earthquake's.
Her husband is still in Japan enduring the continuing quakes and working at the military hospital on base.
It was great to be back with our group and to spend time with Miss Kelly!
It was a fast n' furious, yet fun and fantastic week!
