Be the Sand

Dear Daughters,

There will be times in life when those you called friends will turn their backs on you. In those times allow the hurt to wash over you like waves on the beach, but remember dear daughters,
YOU are the sand!
.
The sand does not jump up to insist the waves stop crashing, it has nothing to prove to them and no need to beg them to stay. The sand is calm and sure - it’s the same sand it was before the waves began to crash.
.
Our world is abundant, with an endless supply of water in the oceans. Remember this as you thank the crashing waves for the lessons they’ve offered, then allow them to freely flow away from you.
.
Releasing the old is a gift, for you are creating room for new, calm, nourishing waters to flow upon your shore.
.
The tide flows in, the tide flows out. Observe this shift and embrace the inner growth you will feel as you choose to remain the grounded, warm, steady sand.

Proving Yourself

Dear Daughters,
.
Accept that people will judge you. Those who know you the least will most likely be the ones who will judge you the most. Right or wrong, good or bad, it’s simply a part of life.
.
.

When people choose judgement over understanding, it’s often a reflection of their unique and complex inner world. Remember this truth as you strive to resist feeling the need to prove. People are only capable of understanding from their level of perception.
.
.
There is only one person that you need to prove yourself to, and that person is you! Take time each day and reflect on who you have chosen to be that day. Are you becoming the kind of person you would would want to be best friends with? Have you done your best to follow your core values?
.
.
Some days you will, others days you won’t, but ultimately I believe in your wisdom to discern what matters most as you choose to follow your heart. You have one life, it is so precious, so use your energy to only prove yourself to the woman in the mirror.
.
.
Sometimes that means being more courageous than you want to be. Sometimes it’ll mean weeping over the loss of people you thought were your friends. Brave daughters, that magnificent person you see in the mirror, her worth is infinitely more valuable than seeking or receiving approval from the crowd.
.
.
I am still learning this lesson right along with you,
Love Mom
