Inner Voice

Dear Daughters,
.
Your inner voice is continually offering you feedback and it’s the most powerful tool in your life, for better or for worse. It’s so important to be aware of her.
.
.
Working closely with women throughout my life, I’ve witnessed those who use their inner voice to feel whole and worthy and capable, while others feel incomplete, unworthy and incapable. I’ve held the hands of women as they’ve confidently birthed babies and successfully birthed business by harnessing the positive power of their inner voice. I’ve also held the hands of women as they’ve painfully struggled to feel whole and realize their inherent worthiness.

Daughters, YOU have the power to positively teach and train and mold your inner voice. Align your actions with the belief that you are strong enough and smart enough and kind enough to become ANYTHING you choose! As you do this, time and again, your inner voice will become a tool in helping you accomplish your dreams. Sculpt her carefully, moment by moment as you create your own reality with every thought you choose.
.
.
My dear girls, I have so much confidence that you will choose to create a reality that continues to empower you and remind you of your infinite worth.
.
.
Love you to the moon and back,
Mom

Judgement

Dear Daughters,
.
One of the most fruitful pathways to experience meaningful growth will be through your ability to listen and love others in non-judgement. The world is overflowing with an abundance of rich cultures, religions, history, art forms, ancient civilizations and so on. Your life represents a tiny piece of the human puzzle, a puzzle that can unite us all. Remember the millions of people who have also been, and who currently are, a part of the puzzle.
.
.
Zoom in with an open mind and a desire to genuinely see and hear others. Take every opportunity to sit face-to-face and learn from people who are completely different from you. Be courageous and humble as you seek to understand before being understood. Listen to podcasts and lectures and books, remembering all the while that you do not know it all and there is so much to learn. Your understanding will increase, your eyes will be opened and your love for others will be among your most important guiding core values.
.
.
Sweet daughters, choosing to judge robs us of inner growth and separates us from humanity. Leave judgement behind as you seek to hear, to see and to learn from the vast, diverse and breathtaking humanity that surrounds you.

Modesty

Dear Daughters,
.
You are blossoming into intelligent, compassionate, capable, driven, optimistic, creative, thoughtful, intuitive women. Remember that the character qualities you have, and that you are developing, are the most important and beautiful and powerful parts of who you are.
.
.
When you make clothing choices, remember the respect you have for yourself, the wisdom you posses and the loving heart that lives within you. Remember this as you prioritize allowing your inner light to shine brighter than even the most sparkling ball gown.
.
.
When you look in the mirror ask yourself if you feel dignified, intelligent and kind in what you are wearing. Don’t worry about what others will think, worry about what you think, for it’s most important that you do not betray yourself. Wise daughters, I’m so confident in your ability to stay true to your inner guide, listen to her as you face a lifetime of representing who you are from the inside out.
.
Love, Mom

Introducing Dear Daughters

Dear Daughters,

I was elbow deep in parenting books when I first felt Brinley’s tiny life fluttering within my body. Sixteen years worth of books later, I’ve learned a great deal about raising little humans. I’ve kissed more ouwies than I can count, sung thousands of lullabies and talked late into the night with you. A weaving together of countless mothering moments has offered me sacred insight that did not, and could not, come from reading words on page. And so now my precious daughters, I’m embarking on a mission to write these things down for you to have forever. (Avery 2006)#lettersformydaughters
